-ISAIAH 43:2

We have been so blessed this past month by the outpouring of the goodness of God on the land at Camp Barkeley, as well as in the hearts of those he has sent to the base!!! As we prepared for our next Global missions school that started May 20th (CB2), we were expectant for God to move as He increased our faith in numerous areas. Preparing students, staff, and guest speakers to come and get a glimpse of His glory and to receive a deeper revelation of His love for us, as we grow and walk in the truth that we have been chosen by Him through the spirit of adoption to be His children. (Galatians 4)

In addition to the abundant rain showers we have had in Abilene and the surrounding areas, God has shown His pleasure in the provision of resources. We have been blessed with a construction team that has done an amazing job building the Worship Center. Although it is still in progress due to the arrival of the school, we have come to a beautiful stopping place for now!! God has blessed us with an amazing church family that has provided us help with setting up sound equipment that has allowed us to empower the expression of worship through music. We are so thankful for a place that people can have communion with God.

Prior to the start of CB2, we had the amazing opportunity to have our staff enjoy an entire week dedicated to getting to know each other and getting things ready at the base! We explored and discovered the different communication skills among our team through ‘Kendall Life Languages’. Later we got to share and allow our students to learn about their communication skills! This has benefitted our team and students in such a big way, empowering us all to communicate effectively and to really connect with the one in front of us.

As the school progresses, we have been enlightened to the truth that is written in Isaiah 43. “I have called you by name and you are mine… when you pass through the waters I will be with you.” It has been so fun getting to hear the testimonies of the students, staff, and guest speakers as God has prepared all of our hearts for this time. There seems to be a common thread among all of the components of the school; God is with us. As we sit under teaching from so many good friends and kingdom family, our hearts and minds are enriched with the revelation they bring. We have had the opportunity to hear from Iris family, Catch the Fire, and Restoring the Foundations, accompanied by local pastors and worship leaders. As we continue to walk in close community with one another, God is continuing to solidify in our hearts the things that we are learning. Our desire is to receive the knowledge but then to allow knowledge and revelation to truly become a lifestyle. As we grow in maturity, and receive healing, we will manifest Christ-like character that will display the love that Jesus displayed.

Just as we are all growing and receiving healing in our hearts, we were taught this week how to bring this healing to people in their hearts but also to their physical bodies. IRIS Abilene partnered with Global Samaritan, a member of the Abilene police department, as well as a local EMT who taught us some of the skills that would be needed in case of a medical emergency. All of this was being taught through the program ‘FEMA CERT’ which is used to train and equip people for disaster relief efforts. Jesus calls each one of us to love the one in front of us and to be the tangible hands and feet of Jesus. We are so thankful that we have been taught these life-saving skills, for we know that they are needed.

We are now approaching week five of the school and graduation is just around the corner!!! Time has flown by so quickly and God has moved in such a powerful way among those who have come to Camp Barkeley. This week we will be partnering with Mark Hewitt and Love and Care Ministries for a local outreach. Our staff and students will have our eyes opened to see that the mission field is in our very own backyard and that God has incredible things for the cities that we call home. As we love our Jerusalem, He will send us to Judea, Samaria, than to the ends of the earth. Matthew 25 says, “I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…” We are called to stop for the one that God gives us and to meet the needs of those around us.

We are excited for all the things that God has done and what He will continue to do as each person leaves and follows where the Lord is sending them. Isaiah 61 comes to mind; “The spirit of the sovereign Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the good news…” We all have amazing testimonies of what the Lord is doing in each one of us. God will use our stories to encourage those who are in despair, if we only would speak up and allow ourselves to be a conduit for His love. Through our stories we can release hope to the hopeless and set the captives free. We look forward to hearing and sharing more of the testimonies on blogs to come!

THANK YOU to all those who have prayed, stood alongside, and helped cultivate the kingdom principals that we are all growing in here at Camp Barkeley! May you receive hope as you take hold of the Fathers unfailing love for us!! Excited to share more in our next newsletter!
